History Of the Orphanage / A No Kill Facility
Lela and Frank Rowe began rescuing cats and kittens in Miami, Florida in 1977.
In June 1987 Rowe's moved to Pensacola, Florida and started the new orphanage on an acre of land.

Hours 9am - 5pm Monday - Saturday CSTime
Over 30 of the felines that were rescued in Miami came with them. There were twenty additional cats that were rescued immediately in Pensacola.
A fully insulated furnished cabin was built following their arrival....Today there are seven buildings housing all the animals....Several of them are air conditioned. All of which is only possible from hard work from the Rowe's...putting the animals needs ahead of their own.
There is a desperate need for a no kill shelter to house the unwanted and abondoned animals that are continually coming in to the Rowe's Orphanage for shelter, food, and care.
The Rowe's Orphanage became a Florida Corporation and obtained a non-profit charitable tax status in 1992, and has been instrumental in placing a large number of animals in to their forever homes.
At present the orphanage houses an average of 50+ cats and kittens year round, in 2800
square feet of enclosed space.
Over 120 lbs. of dry food, and at least 350 cans of food per week is required to keep the animals well fed. That total does not include kitten formula for those that need it to survive. (A daily cost of over $100 a day)
Sorry to say..Dr. Chew....has passed, this last year...He will be dearly missed
He was a good friend & doctor.
Dr C.J. Chew, DVM of Ferry Pass Animal Hospital is on call to the orphanage and has been instrumental in saving the lives of many animals. (Dr. Chew is now passed)
With the exception of a few faithful supporters, all the expenses have been borne by the founder Lela Rowe.
With the increasing cost of food, electricity, and other expenses, we are forced to ask for your financial help so that we may continue to provide this valuable resource to the community. 100% of all donations go directly to the animals.
